California's Complex Labor Laws

Running a California security company means navigating unique requirements:

Generic scheduling or time-tracking software doesn't handle these rules. You end up with manual overtime calculations and compliance risk.

California-Specific Features

AB 2747 Overtime Calculation

The scheduler flags overtime before you assign the shift. Time cards calculate OT automatically: time-and-a-half after 8 hours daily OR 40 hours weekly, double time on the 7th consecutive day. No manual math.

BSIS License Tracking

Store each guard's Guard Card number and expiration date. Track Exposed Firearms, Baton, Tear Gas, and PPO permits. Get alerts 30 days before any license expires so you can reassign shifts or renew before it lapses.

Meal Break Compliance

California requires a 30-minute meal break for shifts over 5 hours. Time cards flag missed or late meal breaks. Guards clock out for meals in the app; system alerts if they worked through it.

City-Specific Minimum Wage

Set different base rates per site for LA, SF, Oakland, and other cities with local wage laws. Payroll export includes the correct rate for each shift location.

Common Questions

Does it integrate with BSIS?
No direct integration. You still submit BSIS applications manually. GSOC stores your guard licenses and alerts you before they expire.

Can it handle split shifts and partial days?
Yes. Overtime calculates across all shifts worked in one day. If a guard works 4 hours in the morning and 5 hours at night, the 9th hour pays at time-and-a-half.

What about travel time between sites (mobile patrol)?
Travel time is paid time in California. Guards can clock in during travel; GPS tracks their route. Time counts toward daily and weekly overtime thresholds.

Does it generate CA-required notices (meal break waivers, OT authorization)?
GSOC tracks compliance but doesn't generate employment forms. You still need an HR service or attorney for employee handbooks and required notices.
