Paper time sheets and honor-system reporting cost you 2-5% of payroll in overpayment.
Guards open the GSOC app and tap Clock In when they arrive on-site. App records exact time and GPS coordinates. Clock out at shift end.
Time punch only works if the guard is within range of the site (you set the geofence radius). Prevents clocking in from home or from the parking lot 3 blocks away.
Each guard has their own login. GPS and timestamp prove who clocked in. Can't hand your phone to a coworker to punch you in early.
California AB 2747 overtime calculates automatically: time-and-a-half after 8 hours daily or 40 hours weekly, double time on the 7th consecutive day. No manual math.
Export approved time cards to CSV for your payroll provider (ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks). Includes regular, overtime, and double-time hours separated per California law.
GSOC integrates time clock with scheduling:
Sometimes guards forget to clock in or their phone dies:
Included in all GSOC plans. $6.70-$7.90 per guard per month. 28-day free trial, no credit card required. See full pricing.
What if there's no cell signal at the site?
Time punch saves locally on the phone and uploads when signal returns. Guard sees a "queued" status until it syncs.
Can guards clock in early?
You can set early clock-in tolerance (e.g., 15 minutes). If they try to clock in earlier, the app blocks it and tells them when they can punch.
Do we need to buy time clock hardware?
No. Guards use their own smartphones. The GSOC app is free for guards to download.
What if a guard's phone is broken?
Managers can manually clock them in/out from the web dashboard. The manual punch is flagged so you know it wasn't GPS-verified.
